Kate Johnson had been teaching Artisan Home-Cheesemaking since 2010 through Briar Gate Farm, but in October of 2014, she launched a new business: The Art of Cheese! Our classroom is now located in the new Haystack Mountain Goat Cheese Creamery at 505 Weaver Park Rd. in Longmont. We offer over a dozen different classes covering 30+ varieties of cheese. Most classes are two hours in length, but we also do monthly 2 to 4 day "bootcamps" where we combine in-depth cheesemaking with other great options such as wine or beer pairings and tours, farm-to-table experiences and much more!
Custom Classes in our new classroom at Haystack Mountain Goat Cheese Creamery
We offer many public classes which you can choose from, but if you would like a private group class, we can customize a class just for you and your friends! You get to choose what cheeses you'd like to learn and then invite your friends to join you. Each participant will receive hands-on instruction, step-by-step instructions for the cheeses made and enjoy delicious cheese samples throughout the class. A brief tour of Briar Gate Farm after the class where you'll get to meet the goats that inspired our cheesemaking school is optional for an additional small fee.
$300 for up to 8 people
(check with us for rates for larger groups - we can accomodate up to 20 people)
Invite your friends to your kitchen for a fun and educational, hands-on cheese making class for beginners. You supply the guests and I'll supply the class, materials, recipe booklets and samples for everyone. Classes are generally 1 1/2 hours in length and cover 1-3 cheeses, depending on which cheeses you want to learn how to make.
Space for as many people as your kitchen will hold! Cheese samples and recipe booklets provided $300 for up to 8 people; $25 per person for each additional person
